CODE OF CONDUCT

 Parents:

  Please read this Summer School Code of Conduct and acknowledge that you have read and understand the policies and penalties contained in this document by signing the Parent Acknowledgement of the Summer School Code of Conduct form that is attached to the Summer School High School Student Registration Form.

 Attendance

Perfect attendance and punctuality are required.

Students who are TARDY must report immediately to the Principal's Office to sign in and obtain a pass to class from an office secretary. Tardy students are NOT PERMITTED to class without a pass from a secretary in the Principal's Office.

Tardiness of less than 30 minutes will count as 1/3 of an Absence Record. Tardiness of 30 minutes or more will count as 1 Absence Record.

Absences due to sickness, vacations, court appearances, appointments etc. are NOT EXCUSED. These absences will be counted as 1 Absence Record.

Conduct 

The possession of alcohol or drugs on school property will result in the student's immediate removal from Summer School and subject to possible arrest. 

Smoking within the building or on the grounds of the Summer School, including the parking lot, will be penalized as 1 Absence Record.
 
Behavior, which is disruptive, rude, destructive to school property or insubordinate, will subject the offender to penalties ranging from 1/3 of an Absence Record to 1 Absence Record.
 
Any removal or suspension from classes for conduct reasons will be considered an absence under the attendance regulations.
 

Fighting will result in immediate removal from Summer School and loss of Summer School credit.

Any willful action that results in the injury of a teacher, staff member or student will result in immediate removal from

Summer School and loss of Summer School credit.

 Students will enter and exit the Summer School using the designated Summer School Entrance ONLY.

 Anyone entering the school through an entrance other than the Summer School Entrance will be subject to

 penalties ranging from 1/3 Absence Record to 1 Absence Record.

 Loitering is not allowed. Students who are on time to class will report immediately to their assigned rooms upon
 arrival to school. Student will exit the school immediately after the class time is over. Students may not enter

 any other area of the school other than the area used specifically for Summer School.

 Passes from class will not be given except for medical emergencies. If a student must go to the nurse, the student
 must report to the Summer School Office first, with a note from the classroom teacher. Office personnel will
 escort the student to the nurse and return the student to class after treatment. If a student is out of class at the nurse
 for less than 30 minutes the student will be assessed an 1/3 Absence Record Penalty. If a student is out of class
 at the nurse for 30 minutes or more the student will be assessed a 1 Absence Record Penalty.
 
During Break time students are to remain in the designates Summer School area (classrooms, lavatories, Summer
 School Office, specified Break area) ONLY. Students are NOT permitted in any other areas of the building
 and cannot exit the building for any reason. Anyone leaving the designated Summer School area will be subject
 to penalties ranging from 1/3 of an Absence Record to 1 Absence Record.
 
 Failure to register an automobile that is parked in the Summer School Parking Lot during Summer School hours
 will result in a penalty of 1/3 of an Absence Record.
 
 Speeding or reckless driving in the parking lot will be subject to penalties ranging from 1/3 of an Absence
 Record to 1 Absence Record. Subsequent offenses will result in a loss of parking privileges
 
 The use of video and/or audio recording devices is not allowed. Violation of this rule will result in a penalty
 ranging from 1 Absence Record to dismissal from Summer School.

  The use of cell phones in the school building during school hours is prohibited. This includes both calling and texting. Violation of this rule will result in a penalty ranging from 1/3 of an Absence Record to 1 Absence Record.  

 Visitors are not allowed in Summer School.

 
Dress and Appearance
 Dress and grooming must conform to accepted standards of modesty, decency, respect and good taste.
 Clothing depicting offensive or disrespectful slogans or pictures is not allowed. Tank tops, halter-tops and
 bare midriff shirts are not allowed. Appropriate shorts may be worn. Shoes, sneakers or sandals must be worn
 at all times
 Student deemed by the principal to be dressed inappropriately will be dismissed from Summer School for that
 day and receive a penalty of 1 Absence Record.
 
 Course Credit
 Credit is NOT GIVEN in any course in which the allotted accumulated Absence Records due to tardiness,
 absence from class, nurse visitations or disciplinary reasons is EXCEEDED:
  Allotted Absence Records: 1 Credit Course - 3 Absences
  1/2 Credit Course - 1 2/3 Absences
 
  All other Milford Board of Education rules regarding conduct and related penalties apply to Milford
 Summer School Students.
