| Policy revisions:
2.0 Rule
There has been a change in the 2.0 Rule. This rule had stated that students
who do not achieve a 2.0 unweighted GPA were ineligible to participate in
sports and other extracurricular activities. The change to the policy is
this: students who fall below a 2.0 have a one- time only opportunity to
appeal to the building principal for a waiver. If the principal approves
they can: continue to participate in the activity while improving their
grades. They would have to submit a plan demonstrating how they will improve
their grades. A determination would be made at the time of progress reports
to determine if they could continue to play or would have to lose the
privilege because they were still below the 2.0
OR
submit a plan to improve their grades, not participate, and again, a
determination would be made at the time of progress reports to determine if
they were eligible.
The principal chooses the option and all plans are subject to the principals
approval.
Discipline Policy
The discipline policy has been rewritten to allow for the expulsion of
students who are chronic offenders of school rules. Students who
consistently violate school procedures and policies will face more serious
consequences for their inability to function as a responsible member of the
high school community.
Copies of both policy changes will soon be posted on the Board of Education
website and will be made available in the school offices.
Visitors
For safety reasons, all visitors must show a picture
identification before entering the school. They then must obtain a visitor's
badge from the security guard's booth.
