Kicking off our study of Animal Farm, students have a vocabulary list to
make their own sentences with. The topic is your choice: My favorite meal, My
Favorite Pet, or The Worst Day Ever! Words modeled in sentences are:
1. benevolent. The benevolent king fed the hungry children.
2. cynical. The cynical old woman turned her lights out on Halloween.
3. obstinate. Some obstinate voters protested at the polls.
4. maxim. Grasso's mission statement is a maxim.
5. ignominious. The politician's affair was ignominious conduct.
6. posthumously. The soldier's heroism was recognized posthumously.
7. canvassing. Girl Scouts are canvassing neighborhoods selling cookies.
8. sordid. The pirate was clearly a sordid individual; he gave me the creeps.
9. intermediary. Peer mediation uses an intermediary to resolve conflicts.
10. malignity. The uni-bomber was filled with malignity, yet he didn't seek
therapy.
