Mrs. Coleman has been a teacher in Milford since 1995 for the Art and
Gifted/Enrichment programs. As of the 2011-2012 school year, Mrs. Coleman will
be based at West Shore Middle School and Pumpkin Delight Elementary School
teaching Art.
Mrs. Coleman has a Bachelor of Science in Education (Art) from SUNY
College at Buffalo. While an undergraduate student, she spent a four studying
art in Italy and an additional three months exploring the art and cultures of
Spain, Portugal, Greece, Israel, France, Switzerland, Belgium, and the
Netherlands.
As an undergraduate student, Mrs. Coleman was an experimental subject in
a two year study on creativity conducted by two of her professors of Creative
Studies. She received a Master of Science in Creative Studies (Creative &
Critical Thinking Skills) from SUNY College at Buffalo--the second person to
complete this program. Additionally, Mrs. Coleman received a 6th year degree
in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University.
Prior to teaching in Milford, Mrs. Coleman led workshops on creativity and
conducted market research and long range planning projects for diverse
companies and industries in the United States and Sweden.
One of Mrs. Coleman's favorite art projects was inspired by a trip to
Alaska and the study of art of the native tribes.
Mrs. Coleman especially enjoys jewelry-making, sculpture, photography,
animation, mixed media, drawing with colored pencils, as well as the art of
different cultures.
