Welcome!
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I originally worked in New
York City as a third grade teacher for five years. Upon coming to
Connecticut, I worked in Stamford for one year teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th
grade students as a remedial reading teacher. Not only did I pull out
students, but I pushed into classrooms working with small groups of students
on reading strategies. Besides this, I modelled lessons for teachers in
their classrooms on various reading strategies. When I transferred to
Harborside Middle School, I was the Reading Enrichment Teacher for two
years. Teaching remedial reading strategies to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade
students had its rewards and challenges. For the past four years, I have
taught Language Arts to 7th graders and love it! I hold certifications
in elementary education, K-12, as well as in literacy and have
completed a 6th year program and obtained my certification as a Reading
Consultant.
My goal for my students this year is to have them become active
readers. I want them to apply the strategies learned in the classroom to
everyday reading. This year, the students will be exposed to reading,
writing, listening, viewing and speaking experiences in order to become life-
long readers and writers. My dream is that all my students will enjoy
reading and writing for pleasure.
