Mrs. Stice has been teaching music at Porter school since 1978. When she
started, she was teaching students from kindergarten through eighth grade.
As the program grew, the department hired additional staff and she now
teaches the students in grades five through eight.
In addition to the general music classes, Mrs. Stice directs the choruses for
the middle school students as well as directs the Panther Players, Porter's
drama club. This year the Panther Players will be presenting "School House
Rock Live! Jr." by Scott Ferguson, Kyle Hall and George Keating with Music
and Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, Bob Dorough, Dave Frishberg, Kathy Mandry, George
Newall, and Tom Yohe. This is a remake of the favorite educational cartoon
show and features such classics as "Conjunction Junction" and "Just A Bill".
This will be Mrs. Stice's 26th production as the director of the Panther
Players.
Mrs. Stice is married and has one son. She lives in Manchester with her
husband and three dogs.
General Music:
To continue the development of the student's knowledge of musical form and
structure, as well as explore music history and literature. The students
will also study basic elements of theater arts.
Chorus:
Students will continue to explore performing arts through choral
presentations which have a curriculum connection to materials and subjects in
their academic classes.
