This year our class will study science and social studies themes through units on Community Helpers, Animal Lifecycles - specifically butterflies in the Fall, penguins in the Winter, and tadpoles in the Spring, National Symbols and Holidays, States of Matter (solid, liquid, gas), magnets, and the Rainforest.
Weather patterns will also be explored through Morning Meeting recording and graphing. A monthly report, which will include the weather and temperature graph results, will be sent home on the last school day of each month.
Work completed during Science and Social Studies units will often be collected and sent home at
the end of the unit in a packet, which will include a cover sheet introducing the topic and
major teaching points. Questions to ask your child at home about the unit will also be included
in this letter.
