Homework:
Doing work at home is beneficial to your performance in school. I will only assign homework that will improve your understanding of any given subject. Therefore, since I am making an attempt to not waste your time please do not waste our time. Come to class prepared with homework completed to the best of your ability so you can contribute to our class in a positive and productive manner. You and your parents can always check assignments and print copies from our class website located on the web at:
http://www.teacherweb.com/CT/JonathanLawHighSchool/MrIacono
Grading:
The grade you earn will be calculated using a total points system. This method is useful because you can calculate your own grade at any time during the course. This is simply done by dividing the total amount of points you have earned by the total amount of points possible. The amounts of possible points for assignments are as follows:
*Class Participation 100
Tests 100
Projects/Papers 50-150
Quizzes 25-50
Homework 5-25
*Class participation includes arriving on time to class with assignments completed, book, notebook, pen or pencil, and contributing to class in a positive manner.
Due Dates: Students are expected to submit assigned material during class on the due date. If materials are submitted after class on the due date or later than the due date only half of the total points possible for that assignment can be earned, unless you were out on an excused absence. All materials not handed in by the end of a unit of study will earn a zero. Also, absolutely no work will be accepted once the marking period has closed. This policy is subject to change only at the discretion of the teacher pending special circumstances stated by the administration, student and/or parent. Letter grades will be according to the following scale:
A+ 97-100 B+ 87-89 C+ 77-79 D+ 67-69
A 93-96 B 83-86 C 73-76 D 63-66
A- 90-92 B- 80-82 C- 70-72 D- 60-62
