Tri-M Music Honor Society

All students that are members of music performing groups (Band, Chorus, Show Choir and Orchestra) are eligible to become members of the prestigious Tri-M International Music Honor Society.

The Tri-M music Honor Society provides recognition and motivation for the finest music students in grades 6 through 12 who maintain high standards in both music and academics. Students are nominated by their music and academic teachers and are decided upon membership through departmental decisions. It is an honor to be even nominated for membership.

When students complete 3 years of LMS band, they are elligible for scholarships awards. However, in order to be elligible for these awards, students must have remained in the TRI-M for 3 years with good academic standing and musicianship. Only those students that have met all criteria will be considered for these cash and/or Honors awards.

Founded in 1952, the Tri-M Music Honor Society has almost 5,000 chartered chapters worldwide. The requirements are as follows:

  1. Students must be in a musical performing group
  2. Maintain at least a B average in music and at least a C average in academic subjects.
  3. Must have demonstrated leadership, service, and character in their activities.

This membership takes place in an induction ceremony after all initial and renewal fees have been satisfied. Continuing membership is offered to students who attend Platt High School and Maloney High School.

New student induction fee is $20.00

Student renewal each subsequent year is only $10.00

New students receive membership certificate, chapter pin

Renewed students receive certificates, service and musicianship awards.
