No School in observance of Memorial Day.

 

Tuesday, May 29th

Class work:

1.   Brain Pop on Circuits

2.   “Diagraming a Circuit Notes” with PowerPoint Notes on Circuits

3.   “Features of a Circuit” activity

4.   Build circuits in class to understand the difference between series and parallel

Homework:

1.   Complete “How a light bulb works” with the diagram of a light bulb on the back– go to the website listed on the sheet, and look up how a light bulb works, and answer the questions on the sheet provided. The answer is provided on the back for the diagram, but try to fill in the answers first, without looking!!

 

Wednesday, May 30th

Class work:

1.   Brain Pop on Electricity/Electromagnets

2.   Begin “Notes on Electromagnets” – this will be finished for homework – see below

3.   Complete “Electromagnets Activity”

Homework:

1.   Finish “Notes on Electromagnets” using your textbook. For each section, the pages are listed that you should use to complete the remaining questions.

 

Thursday, May 31st

Class work:

1.   Review for the quiz tomorrow.

2.   “St. Elmo’s Fire and Review Sheet” and check over the answers

3.   Watch video on electricity: sharks, lightning, fuel cells

Homework:

4.   Study for an electricity quiz tomorrow. Use the study guide provided on the back.

5.   Bring your calculator.

6.   Bring your textbook tomorrow in class to be turned in.

7.   Bring something to work on after the quiz.

 

Friday, June 1st

Class work:

1.   Turn in your Electricity and Magnetism textbook.

2.   Electricity Quiz

Homework:

1.   The final assessment begins on Monday.

·         Monday - find out the topic and the schedule, research online for homework

·         Tuesday - plan out your experiment, make a blank data table for homework

·         Wednesday - conduct your experiment, graph for homework

·         Thursday – lab quiz with lab notebook, then separate quiz without notes on content and lab format in general  




For the week of May 21st 

Please note: the numbering system is being phased until the end of the year. From now on, assignments will be kept in order by the date and title. All assignments are listed in bold, and will be still be listed on the table of contents page.

Monday, May 21st

Class work:

1.   Get materials and get organized for the week.

2.   Return graded assignments and calculate quarter grade so far.

3.   Brain Pop “Static Electricity”

4.   “Static Charges” notes with Powerpoint (online)

5.   “Electric Cans” with Review on the back

Homework:

1.   Complete Static Guided Reading and Study, using Chapter 2 Sections 1.

Class work:

1.   Check over Static Guided Reading and Study answers

2.   Brain Pop on “Current Electricity”

3.   Current Electricity and Measuring Current Activity

Homework:

1.   Read Chapter 2 Section 2 in the book and complete “Electric Current Guided Reading and Study”

Class work:

1.   Check over Electric Current Guided Reading and Study

2.   “Ohm’s Law Notes and Practice Problems”

3.   Start “Notes on Batteries”

Homework:

1.   Read Chapter 2 Section 3 in the textbook and finish “Notes on Batteries”

 

Thursday, May 24th

Class work:

1.   Check answers to Notes on Batteries

2.   Brain Pop on batteries

3.   “Electrochemical Cell”

Homework:

1.   “Batteries Review Questions” – this will be collected and graded

 

Friday, May 25th

Class work:

1.   Collect Batteries Review Questions to be graded

2.   Brain Pop on Circuits

3.   “Circuits, Circuits, Everywhere!”

Homework:

1.   There will be a quiz on all of Chapter 2 on Friday, June 1st. Please use the study guide on the back to prepare for the electricity quiz.

2.   There will be a lab final assessment that will take place in class during the week of June 4th. There will be an individual lab quiz in class on Thursday, June 7th. Please use your lab format sheet and your lab notebook to prepare for the final assessment.
