Health

Always be sure to get plenty of rest (at least 8 hours of sleep) and to eat 3
meals a day (breakfast is SO important!). Your body really needs the energy
from rest and nutrition in order to be able to be successful in school. You
will also feel better and it will help you to feel prepared for each day's
demands.

Also, you may find that you experience stress more frequently in middle
school. This can be your body's response to so many different pressures- the
additional work demands placed upon you, social stress, competition, etc.
There are many ways that you can positively cope with stress which include
getting to know your signs of stress, talking with someone, exercising,
writing, singing/dancing/performing, playing sports, going for walks,
meditation/yoga/breathing exercises, etc. If you would like some help
recognizing and dealing with stress, please feel free to come see me and we
can work on this together.

Please do not feel badly if you need help- we all do at some point and it is
very common to feel stress in middle school. This help can come from a
parent, family member, teacher, counselor, friend, coach, big sister/brother,
etc. Always remember to breathe and to think positive "can do" things about
yourself when you get stressed or nervous. Putting yourself down with
negative thoughts like "I can't do this", "what's wrong with me?", "I should
have...", etc. will only make you more nervous and upset.

Remember to breathe, breathe, breathe, find your ways of relieving stress and
please don't be afraid to ask for help (we ALL need help sometimes)!
