This is my ninth year as a math teacher at MMS. I used to go by "Miss
Orkins", until being married on August 7, 2009. I have taught eighth grade
Algebra and Pre-Algebra from 2003 - present, taught Accelerated Math 7 in the
2009-10 school year, and 6th grade Pre-Algebra in the 2010-11 school year!
My objective is to create a friendly environment in the classroom so that all
students can learn and enjoy math.
Ms. Saffa began as my long term substitute on January 31, 2012 and will
remain until I return from my maternity leave. She has been helping students
love math for the past 12 years and is CT state certified in Middle Grades
Mathematics. Mrs. Saffa is thrilled to be a part of the MMS community!
P.S. - A note from Ms. Saffa - Mrs. Siano taught two of Ms. Saffa's own
children when they were in 8th grade at MMS (while she was still Miss Orkins)
and they remember her as their favorite math teacher! Ms. Saffa regrets that
she cannot "sing" the quadratic formula as well as does Mrs. Siano!
