How much homework will we have?
You should expect homework almost every night, including weekends.
"Can I give you my homework tomorrow?"
No. Homework must be handed in on the day it is due. Homework is a tool to
prepare the student for the next day's class, therefore handing it in late
defeats the purpose of the assignment. While I do understand that you may
become overwhelmed at times, finding a way to stay disciplined will follow
you through your high school career. There are NO exceptions to this rule.
Is there extra credit?
Extra credit opportunities will be provided to the students who work hard
throughout the quarter. If you decide to not do a project, numerous homework
assignments, etc. you will not be given an opportunity to gain extra credit.
Like I mentioned above, I do understand that there will be a time here and
there when you may not be able to get your homework done for whatever
reason, and that is when extra credit MAY be provided. If it becomes a
habit, extra credit will not be an option. Your grade reflects a quarter's
work, not how many extra credit assignments you can do to bump your grade.
What can I do to get a good grade?
*Come to class daily and on time.
*Complete all homework/long term projects
*Do not be afraid to come to me with any problems that you may encounter.
This class is supposed to be challenging, so do not become frustrated if you
struggle at times. I am available every day before and after school for
extra help.
*Come to class prepared. I do not give out pens and pencils. You are in high
school now, and it is your responsibility to be prepared for class.
*Be honest
*Work hard and manage your time wisely. Do not wait until Sunday night to
read the fifty pages that is due on Monday and was assigned last Thursday.
*Never say "I can't." You are in this class for a reason and therefore "you
can."
Can I retake a test or quiz?
Absolutely not. Study hard the first time and there will be no need to take
it over.
