This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
- Do you accept late assignments?
- Is there extra credit?
- How can I prepare for class each day?
- How can I insure a good grade?
Do you accept late assignments?
No.You must submit all assignments at the beginning of class on the
due date. While I understand that life gets busy and occasionally you
will miss an assignment, developing disciplined work habits and
handling responsibilities must happen.
Is there extra credit?
Yes and no. I will post random extra credit assignments, either on
the website or in my classroom, meant to offset those busy nights
when the English work did not get done. I will not, however, provide
a student with work who failed to complete many assignments
throughout the quarter and needs a last minute bump in the grade.
Your grade reflects a quarter's effort, not a final gasp.
How can I prepare for class each day?
The night before, check your assigment pad for exactly what you need
to accomplish. Do notjust complete the work. Make sure that you truly
understand it. Keep an eye out for long term assignments and work
progressively to finish. NO last minute cramming! If, for some
strange reason, I have not given homework for that particular day,
you should do both of the following: review all material we worked on
in class that day and pleasure read for at least twenty minutes.
Consistent study habits will produce attractive results. Also,
although you may not get one, expect a pop quiz each day - I am a big
fan of them so watch out.
How can I insure a good grade?
Steps to success:
1. Come to class each day ready to learn.
2. Take responsibility for your own education. Make no excuses.
3. Submit all assignments on time.
4. Review each night to prepare for the next class.
5. Communicate with me consistently.
6. Manage your time properly - work will not do itself.
7. Be confident...you'll be surprised just how smart you really are!
