I have been teaching Social Studies in Norwalk for twenty-six
years. When I first came to NHS, I taught Psychology. From there I
have taught nearly every class that we offer. For four years I
served as department chairman but I chose to go back to the
classroom full time. For me, the teaching is more satisfying than the
administrative work.
I am one of those "social studies fanatics." My education includes degrees
in Chinese Studies and Teaching. For much of my life I have had the great
fortune to do what I always wanted -- to teach about the world and about
people.
I also have a passion for travel and exploration -- and I get away whenever
possible.
I am married -- in fact, my wife teaches computer at Newtown Middle School
(which is also where we live.)
I have two terrific stepchildren --
Andrea (22) and Kevin (19). Andrea is a sophomore at Naugatuck Community
College and Kevin is a sophomore at Keene State College.
We live in Newtown and no, its not that
far (at the time I leave it takes less than 40 minutes to school.)
Our time in class is short this year so my mission is to do the most we can
with the limited time we have. For you, I want you to dedicate yourself to
reaching, questioning and exploring what we are learning about. I promise
that if you reach beyond what I ask, there are rewards that will remain with
you for the rest of your life.
