Attention Head Room Parents:
Please contact your classroom teacher to inform them if you have any remaining
classroom money as well as the amount. In the past, many teachers like to put
any remaining funds towards an end of the year class party/pizza party.
Contact teachers by the deadline of May 1st either by email or written notice.
Contact me directly at lkennedy@milforded.org
should you have any questions.
Thank you all for your help, planning and hard work with the classroom
parties!!

Holiday Contributions
To all Room Parents,
As in the past, many classes like to do a collection for a teacher gift at
holiday time and end of the year. If you would like to do a collection please
phrase it in any written or verbal notification as the “suggested
donation of up to $5.00 per child”. In this way, we are sensitive
to all of our OAS families. Those families that would like to contribute more
than $5 are welcome to do so, since we are using the term “suggested donation”.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly at
lkennedy@milforded.org. Thank you for your help!

Dear Room Parents,
Our OAS holiday tree will be
put up in the lobby and decorated shortly. Each year the head room parent of
their class contributes an ornament to the holiday tree with the name of the
teacher and the year. The ornament can either be purchased or handmade, it is
up to you! We ask that you please hang your ornaments on the tree between
December 7-12. Please contact us should you have any questions.
Happy Holidays!
Head Room Parent Committee
Thank you for
volunteering for
Room Parent!
The following are some suggestions and procedures on communications
that will help to make your class parties enjoyable for the children and to
run smoothly at the same time!
Ø
Please introduce yourself to your teacher as the Head/Co-Head Room
Parent(s) .
Ø
Send the enclosed Head Room Parent Introduction
Letter to class parents via Friday folder. Send the Teacher
Party Checklist to your teacher.
Ø
Establish the teacher’s likes and dislikes as to
what is and is not allowed at class parties. One particular subject to discuss
is whether any siblings are allowed at parties.
Ø
Also, find out how many room parents the teacher
would prefer at the party too.
Ø
Always consult with the teacher first,
to confirm the day, time and details of the party. Prior to sending out
notices on a party via Friday folders, have the teacher approve it first for
updates and/or changes.
Once you receive back the teacher party checklist, you will know what parties
are needed throughout the year. This way you can budget your classroom money
accordingly. Please note that every child may not be paid for in the class and
should not be excluded in any way. In addition you may find a few cases of a
child’s last name may be different than the parent’s last name.
FOOD ALLERGIES OR RESTRICTIONS: Included in the envelope
are all the party room return slips, please check them for any noted food
allergies or any type of food restrictions. Should you have any questions,
please check with the teacher.
Head Room Parent
Responsibilities:
·
Inform ALL classroom parents about party, date, time list of items
needed via written communication through Friday folder. This will ensure that
notices get home to parents plus have them contact you directly on what they
can contribute and if they can help out.
·
Classroom monies collected should be used for craft purchases. The
contributors should be contributing food and drink items to parties.
·
Contact the teacher(via email or note) to ask what they would like for
the party, such as snack only, snack, craft and game, date and time of party.
·
Food and Drink: ALWAYS watch your allergies to ensure ingredients are
appropriate. When in doubt, check with the teacher or school nurse. This is
especially important with regards to baked goods.
·
Games: You may want to have a couple of games ready to play depending
on the length of time allowed. It is a good idea to always have a back up
activity such as stories or music.
·
Crafts: Usually one is enough and the children love to take something
home. Baggies, plastic wrap and a can opener are good to have on hand.
·
Once you have established everything for the party, pass it by the
teacher for final approval. Also remember to
verify the time of the party too.
·
If you have class party money still available by May 1st
2008, contact the teacher to see if he/she would like to use that money
towards an end of year or pizza party for the class. There should be no
remaining monies by the end of school year.
If you ever have any questions, comments, issues or concerns regarding
parties, procedures etc., call or email us. We are here to help! Our goal is
to make it fun for the children!
