Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House is a charity that the families of Orange Avenue
have been very generous in giving to in the past years. There are several
ways in which our school contributes to the Ronald McDonald House and they
are listed below.
--------------------------------------
Lights of Love (Ronald McDonald House)
At Holiday time the students are asked to bring in a dollar for every paper
candle they want to decorate. These candles are then hung on the Lights of
Love tree in our school's lobby. All of the money is forwarded to the Ronald
McDonald House.

Wish List (Ronald McDonald House)
At certain times of the school year, Orange Ave organizes a food and item
drive for the Ronald McDonald House. A copy of their Wish List is sent home
with all the students. If there are any items on the list that the OAS
families want to donate then the student brings them back to school by the
drive's deadline. See www.ronaldmcdonaldhouse.com/wishlist.html to see what
items of which they are currently in need (however, only send the items into
our school when there is a drive going on).
--------------------------------------
Soda can pop tabs (Ronald McDonald House)
Our school as an ongoing effort collects soda can pop tabs for donating to
the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald house then receives cash in
exchange for recycling their many tons of pop tabs.
Just tear off the pop tabs from your empty soda cans and send the tabs into
school with your child.
Please visit

McDonald House has done with these pop tabs!

Thanksgiving Baskets
At Thanksgiving time the students are encouraged to think of what they are
thankful for and to also think about others who are in need. A collection of
non-perishable foods and items are collected in the lobby the week before
Thanksgiving and then baskets are assembled and distributed to Orange Avenue
families and the Milford community.
--------------------------------------
Mediplex
There are various activities throughout the year that involve the students
visiting residents at the Mediplex Convalescent Center across the street
from the school. A long line of the children in costume parades through the
building bringing smiles to many of them (both the children and the
residents) during our storybook character day, traditionally held during
Oct. 31st week. OAS strives to maintain a partnership with the Mediplex
community.

American Cancer Society Daffodil Sale
Every Spring OAS raises money for the American Cancer Society by selling
daffodil bouquets. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
