| Some of you may be wondering what exactly it is that your child is doing
while at school... Here is a brief overview of what a day in Room Six looks
like!
Fine Motor activities require children to manipulate smaller objects in
order to increase their manual dexterity. Some of these activities include
stringing beads, completing puzzles, and putting together the class'
favorite toy, the marble run.
Circle Time is when the majority of teacher directed learning takes place.
During circle we work on concrete skills such as body awareness, colors,
numbers, counting shapes, and animals. Following directions and attending
are also practiced during circle time. Depending on your childs' age we may
also be working on phonemic awareness, sorting, classifying, calendar, and
weather.
Gross Motor time is when we typically go out to the playground. If there is
inclement weather we sometimes have an obstacle course in the classroom or
play a game that involves the whole class.
Gross motor skills include jumping, climbing, running etc.
Center time is play time! During this time we open between 3 and 4
different areas to learn through play. Sometimes we also complete our art
projects during
centers.
