An addition to the Science Department at THS in 2006, Daniel earned a B.S in
Geology from Southern Connecticut State University and an M.S. in Science
Education from Central Connecticut State University. Daniel has taught
science at the middle school level in West Hartford and Cheshire, and high
school in Sugar Land, Texas. He also serves as an adjunct professor in the
Earth Science Department at Southern Connecticut State University in New
Haven. Prior to his career as an educator, Daniel was a senior geologist for
an environmental engineering firm. Daniel is active in promoting science
education and he has presented workshops at several National Science
Teacher’s Association (NSTA) national conventions. Daniel has worked as a
manuscript reviewer for a science education journal and he has published
articles regarding research-based teaching practices. Daniel enjoys the
outdoors, fitness related activities and creative writing.
This science course is designed with the following objectives:
Students will:
Acquire scientific knowledge and skills through inquiry, experimentation,
data analysis and interpretation;
Use mathematical operations and procedures to calculate analyze, and present
scientific data and concepts;
Assess the credibility of scientific information;
Articulate conclusions and explanations based on research data; and
Develop greater levels of scientific literacy.
