Political Systems Final Exam Essays (5 of 9)

  1. Our Constitution provides for checks & balances so that no branch of government becomes too powerful.  Name the three branches of government and give two powers for each
  1. Explain how a bill becomes a law
  1. List and explain the six goals of the constitution 
  1. List the qualification for all of the following:  President, U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative
  1. List the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation
  1. Name two powers that the Constitution gives to the federal government, two powers of the states, and two powers that the federal government  & states share
  1. Explain why Americans wanted a Bill of Rights added to the constitution.  List at least five of the rights.
  1. What are your duties and responsibilities as a citizen of the United States?  List at least five of them.

9.  What is the difference between a direct democracy & a representative

      democracy?

Current Event Assignment

1. The current event assignment will be due on selected Fridays.

2. It will be worth 10 points towards the student’s homework grade.

3. Each student will bring in five current event questions (with the answers) related to class that they have collected and composed.

4. The questions should be on topics, issues, concerns, or events regarding U.S. political systems & world events.

5. Students may collect their current event questions from any source they choose (newspaper, television, radio, magazine, internet, etc.) and must note on their homework from where the information was gathered.

6. After the homework is collected and checked, selected questions will be read and students can receive bonus points on the homework assignment by correctly answering the current event questions (students will not be able to answer the questions they submitted).
