 Weekly letterDear Parents, March 23, 2010
Happy Spring!! Our next unit will be all about Spring
AM SESSION We will start our unit with rain, clouds, mud, and rainbows. We will pattern with clouds and raindrops, make mud and play with it, and create rainbows and umbrellas. We will continue to practice identifying our first name in print and label the initial letter/ sound. We will count puddles, practice our prepositions by jumping in/ out/ over/ around puddles and learn new songs and finger plays. We will put a branch of forsythia in water and observe what happens to it over the next few weeks. We will also plant grass in cups and watch as the seeds change. We will read many books such as Looks like Spilt Milk, Little Cloud, and Planting a Rainbow.
PM Session
We will look for signs of spring and explore how spring makes us feel.We will compare and contrast winter and spring, the different activities and clothes we can now do and wear as well as read many related books. We will review last units letters G, D, and M. The next set of letters will be C/K, R and T. Please help your child find magazine pictures of items starting with these letters and send them to school a.s.a.p. Thank you for helping me with this activity.
As always, weather permitting, we will go outside to play on a daily basis, so please dress your child appropriately. Layers are recommended since we go out at different times of the day and the temperatures are changing throughout the day.
**Coming this week:
The Nature Center is visiting us with a variety of animals. We will get a close-up look and even get to touch some of the creatures. AM session: Wednesday, March 24, 9:00-9:30 PM session : Thursday March 25, 2:30-3:00
**No school on ... Friday, April 2 (Good Friday) Monday, April 5 (Professional Day) April 19-April 23 (Spring Break)
