Welcome to the Grade 8 Onyx team!
We are looking forward to an exciting year filled with remarkable learning experiences in and out of the classroom.
Please familiarize yourself with our team expectations and policies outlined as follows:

In order to accomplish our learning tasks we emphasize commitment and cooperation which can be achieved if students:

On our team website you can find nightly homework, announcements of quizzes and tests, and upcoming school and team events.
3. After School Tutorial
An Onyx team teacher will be available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school to assist any student with homework and/or extra help in any class. This tutorial is separate from homework club in that the student will receive individual support from one of his/her team teachers. If a student would like to stay on a Monday or Friday, they should make arrangements with a team teacher.
4. Homework Policy
Any student who does not complete his/her homework assignment for any class will be required to stay after school that day to complete it. The student will call to inform the parent. Though the student will not receive credit for the assignment, completing it will keep the student current with the class. Students will not be excused from staying after because of sports or other after school activities.
ADDENDUM: As Marking Term 1 has ended and there are several students who habitually have to stay after due to missing work, we have come to the conclusion that this consequence does not work for them. Therefore, the team teachers will still be available on a rotating basis and by appointment for students who want to do homework or need extra help, but students will no longer be kept after school for homework detentions.
