At West Shore, we try to keep our
fundraising to a minimum, but in order to accomplish our good work, we must
conduct at least some fundraising events throughout the year. Through this
financial support, we are able to provide every child at West Shore with an
academic planner. We also contribute funding for Fine Arts Programs with
Visiting Artists. Some funding is earmarked for Family Friendly events. We
also offer additional funds for student programming -- whether it may be a
study night, support for the track meet, organizing movie nights and much,
much more.
Without your support, these events
wouldn't be possible! Please help us in our efforts.
Magazine Drive
The Fall Fundraiser is our Annual Magazine
Drive. We heartily encourage all students to participate in this program.
Our Program Kickoff just took place on Friday (October 9) and your student
should have come home with his/her Magazine Fundraising Packet. Please take a
look through it.
Our program is unique in the fact
the profit from your child's total sales (40%) is deposited to his or her own
personal Student Activity Account. Your child can then spend this money (with
your permission, of course) on any variety of items or events held throughout
the rest of the year.
These funds traditionally have been used
to pay for Field Trips, Spiritwear, Yearbooks, and any other event or program
where funds are required. Updates are sent home regularly so you can keep
track of your child's account balance.
Your student's funds must be used by the
end of the school year and are not transferable to siblings or to the next
year. At the end of the year, all unused funds go into the PTA general fund
to help sponsor all school activities.
Box Tops for
Education
Box Tops for Education! This wonderful
program, sponsored by General Mills, offers our school 10 cents for every
specially marked label clipped and collected on behalf of our school. A
long-standing tradition at our school, we are getting ready for our first
submission of the year. Please clip/package your Box Top Labels and send them
in WITH YOUR CHILD this week. We are currently conducting a contest among
our homerooms to see who can collect the most. The winning homeroom will win a
special prize!
ShopRite for
Education
This fundraising project doesn't cost us a
penny -- and offers tremendous benefit. Simply register your Price Plus Card
number in the ShopRite for Education program and the store takes care of all
the rest for us. You must designate West Shore Middle School in order for us
to earn points that we spend at the end of the year on equipment for our
school. There are three ways to register: 1) Visit the Customer Service Desk
at ShopRite; 2) Visit the website online at www.shoprite.com/educate; or 3)
Send an e-mail to Sue Garlock (this year's chairperson) and simply include
your name and your Price Plus Card number. It starts with a "4" so make sure
you give Sue your entire number. That's it! You can contact Sue at dsjegar@att.net.
Thank you so much!
