Long-term assignment study guides are posted when they are
given. Daily
assignments are posted on the classroom board, and also discussed
during
class, so that students can write the daily assignments in their
Agendas.
This website is a reference source which is updated periodically,
not daily.
Students should be maintaining information about their homework
in
their Agendas. Keeping track of daily work is an important life-
skill
students need to acquire before high school.
Ask to see where this different due date is written in the
student's
Agenda. This would indicate that the teacher has made an
announcement in
class. Without the assignment already written down, the student
is relying
on memory -- and our student's memories are often faulty.
There are often mysterious outbreaks of printer problems just on
the nights
before homework is due. Students know what alternatives they
have to get
the work done - hand write it from the screen (then type it at
school
later), copy to a flash drive and print at school, or e-mail to
the
teacher.
When a problem comes up, students gain much from finding a
solution, rather
than making excuses.
