Homework

Homework is assigned weekly. It includes daily practice reading, math "home
links", and other brief language arts, social studies, or science assignments.

Homework books and plastic folders should be brought to school each day,
though if you forget them or are too busy to do homework occasionally, don't
worry!

Each Friday children who have done most of their homework that week will get a
sticker for recognition.

The goal is for homework to provide reinforcement, practice, and connect home
and school. If homework becomes a sad time, a struggle, or too
time-consuming, please let me know and we will work something out.

For children who want MORE homework, bonus homework is often offered.
If not, children may always
1. Write more or put in creative writing
2. Create math problems and tell how they arrived at the solution
3. Read more and tell what they are reading
4. Bring in items of interest related to something we are studying.

If you save your child's homework book, it will show them their growth over
the course of the year!

MONDAY –Do the math home link 1.11 Explorations. (You will have to think back
to last week, when we used unit cubes, pattern blocks, and geoboards with
rubber bands.)

TUESDAY – What are you reading at home this week? Write the title in your
homework book.
Do the math home link 1.12 Thermometers.

If you are finished with your Janney library book, put it in your backpack to
return tomorrow.

THURSDAY – NO HOMEWORK! Just help out at home, so your parents can come to
Back to School Night! 
(If you want to bring a book from home to share with your book buddy tomorrow,
make sure your name is in it and put it in your backpack.)

BONUS – If you want, notice shadows this week. It is lucky we finally have
some sunshine to make them! Draw what you see- draw what is making the
shadow, and what the shadow looks like. Draw the sun in your picture- be
careful to put the sun where it really is.
