Classroom Rules/Procedures

Using the Milford School District computers is a privilege not a
right. Abuse it and you will lose it.

The policies and procedures as found in the Milford Middle School Student
Handbook detailing the expected maturity, responsibility, and self-
disciplined behaviors evident in an Exemplary Student Body will be followed
in this class.

Be on time for class and at your computer when the bell rings. Have your
folder, paper, pen/pencil and agenda book with you everyday. If you are
late three times to class, you will be given a Teacher Detention. The
fourth time you will receive a referral.

Please look at the Agenda (on the front screen) upon entering the classroom
to prepare yourself accordingly.

Do not log on or use the computer without teacher permission. Additionally
do not use a computer that you have not been assigned to use.

Food, drinks, gum, candy, etc. are not allowed in this or any other computer
lab in the Milford School District. If you carry a water bottle, it will
need to remain in the front of the lab. You cannot take it to your
workstation.

You must have your agenda book to leave the classroom. You will need to
sign out on the Privilege List and sign back in when you return.

Please do not talk while the teacher is talking or while other students are
giving answers or a response to a question. Do not disrupt the classroom.

“Give Me Five” – Whenever you here this phrase, this is the signal that I
need your attention. Stop whatever you are doing, your mouth is quiet, you
are looking at the teacher, your hands are still, and you are listening for
directions. Remember the phrase: “Give Me Five”.

Please be on task and working throughout the period. If you finish early,
you are expected to work on something quietly at your desk. (MicroType or
AR Book).

Do not print any documents without teacher permission.

Please keep your work area clean and place all trash in its proper place.

Be responsible for the use and care of the computer equipment that is
assigned to you as well as your passwords and access to the computer. If
you do something wrong or if something breaks, please take responsibility
for your actions and let me know. If you get an error message on your
screen, please let me know right away.

When an announcement comes across the speaker, please stop talking. If
someone is asking me a question, I will answer without your help. Also, no
student will answer the classroom phone.

The teacher will dismiss you from class, not the bell. Remain seated and
quiet once you have been instructed to pack up your belongings.

Electronic devices such as cell phones, all paging devices, portable game
devices, CD players, walkmans, iPods, etc. are banned from the lab. They
will be confiscated and turned over to the Dean of Students, Principal, or
Vice Principal.

Do not install, upload, or download programs, music, applications, games,
etc. on any computer.

Do not use the chat room, instant messaging, email, video conferencing, or
access your personal website.

Do not play any computer games or Internet games without teacher permission.

Do not access the Internet unless you have teacher permission. No surfing
allowed!

Do not reconfigure computers by changing settings on the computer, web
browser, the desktop, user area, operating system, or any part of the
computer system.

Note: Consequences for improper use of computers or the internet could
result in a loss of all computer privileges on any computer in the Milford
Middle School as well as other disciplinary and/or legal action in
accordance with the Milford School District policy as stated in the
Acceptable use Guidelines.

                                                      Revised: 22Aug07-clh
