SCIENCE CLASS RULES

You must raise your hand to speak
Touching, tasting, or breathing substances could make you sick or even die!
Always wear goggles
Ask before getting out of your seat
Do your own work, coping others will give both students zeros
Lab partners-each person must turn in his or her own lab
Read safety contract-sign and return
Book bags must be in the locker
Bring everything to class
	Book
	Notebook- warm-ups,vocabulary, handouts, labs, homework, tests 
	Pencil- no pens!!  Work done in pen will be returned
	Highlighter
	Color pencils
	Graph paper
Warm-up on the board
	Come in, sit and get started
	This is the time to sharpen your pencil.  No other time in class
	Complete warm-up in 5 minutes
	This is where your test questions come from
Homework
	5 points
	No late work accepted
	Out on the desk when you come in
Groups
	Tasks
	Task master - be sure all lab materials are set up
                    -assign extra duties when necessary
                    -keep group on task
           Timer  - keep time of lab
		  -time lab activities when necessary
	Equipment manager -get and return equipment
			 -take care of equipment
			 -report problems
			 -check lab for equipment needed
	Recorder	 - record all information
                        -make sure everyone copies info to own lab
                      -check board for additional notes
Labs
	25 points each
	Due the next class
	Each person must turn in their own lab
	In the lab section of notebook
	Handouts that apply to lab must be included 
	If you lose handout you must recopy yourself!!!
Conclusion is to include purpose of the lab, 
what you did in the lab, did it work or did you have to change something?, 
and three things you learned

Reports and projects
	100-200 points
10 points each day late (whether you have me that day or not it is due the 
date assigned
Since the projects are assigned several weeks prior to due date, you are 
responsible to come to be prior to due date if there is a problem 

Articles
	25 points

	Articles will be on current events that are assigned
They are due on the due date assigned unless you don’t have me that day, 
then they are due the next day you have me
They will be collected and graded
There will be specific instructions for each article assigned
They can come from the Internet, newspaper, or magazine
Article must be attached to the writing

Tests
	100 points
	Weekly/biweekly
Quizzes 
10-25 points
