Bienvenidos! I hope everyone had a happy and healthy summer. I am so looking
forward to seeing all the kids and hearing about their summer experiences.
We dive right into Spanish this week. Grades 2-5 we begin with review. Grades
prek and k will not have any workbooks. We start with learning about Yo (me)
and colors, numbers, feelings, body parts, and family to name a few. Grades 1
will be given workbooks the first full day of school. In first grade there is
homework 3 out of the 4 nights. Grades 2-5 I collected
their workbooks from last year for safe keeping. If your child is new this
year they will be given their new workbook. Children from 1st thru 5th will
be given a notebook marked Spanish and a folder marked Spanish to keep
important Spanish papers. Homework is given on a routine basis to reinforce
the concepts we are learning in class. Parents please do not worry if you can
not help your child with Spanish! The children are given all the tools and
information they need in class to properly do the assignments. Homework will
be posted on the homeroom teachers website. If your child is
struggling or are having trouble please let me know. You can reach me at
school or by email and I can help them with flashcards or xtra credit.
Homework counts as a grade but if there is a reason they could not do it
please send me in a note so I know not to hold them accountable. Projects are
also a part of their grade. We discuss what is expected in class and it is
their responsibility to have it in on time. Any projects not handed in will
be given a zero. There are also tests that are
given after we complete each unit. We review the information consistently
because I also believe that Speaking Spanish is as important as understanding
it. I look forward to a great year. Thank you for allowing me the pleasure
of being a part of your childs education.
Muchas Gracias,
Senora Lucy
