i-SAFE

Parents,
Beginning this month Computers will be teaching i-SAFE to the middle school students of St. Ann. I-SAFE Inc. is the leader in Internet safety education. The goal is to educate students on how to avoid dangerous, inappropriate, or unlawful online behavior. i-SAFE.org accomplishes this through dynamic K-12 curriculum and community outreach programs to parents, law enforcement, and community leaders. Class News Updates

Kindergarten and 1st grade will be focusing on basic computer usage over the next few months. The curriculum is called Kindergarten Advantage and will concentrate on the names of computer parts and the proper handling of those parts.
Beginning keyboarding skills are also being covered. 2nd and 3rd grades will be working with the curriculum Slide Show Stories with an emphasis on PowerPoint basics. 4th grade will be working with the curriculum Slide Time reviewing intermediate skills and learning new PowerPoint Skills. 5th grade will be working with the curriculum Presentation Power with an emphasis on more advanced PowerPoint skills 6th, 7th and 8th grades have begun working on Power Point projects designed to combine the elements of doing internet research along with presenting their work using Power Point. From there, they will move onto the i-SAFE curriculum.

This year, 8th grade has taken it upon themselves to demonstrate their hand at creating infographics. Using a combination of images, facts, research and persuasion. you will find the results impressive:
