Home Activities

Below are some activities for you to do at home with your child.

1.   Practise going to the toilet independently. It would also be great if you could help your child learn to ask for the toilet. For example, "Can I go to the toilet please?" Remind your child to wash their hands after using the toilet.

2.   Have a picnic. This could be outside in a garden or inside on the carpet. Encourage your child to open their own lunch box and take items out. When you've finished eating ask your child to put their rubbish in the bin, and put unfinished items and containers back into their lunchbox.

3.   Show your child their uniform, look at their name. Ask you child to find their name on their uniform.

4.   Sing some nursery or counting rhymes together. Check out this cbeebies link:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/tweenies/songtime/songs/watchnsing.shtml

5.   Share a story with your child.

6.   Practise the names of the body parts. You could sing 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes"

7.   Show your child how to wash their hands thoroughly using soap. Remind them of the importance of regular handwashing. Here is a link to a handwashing song that you and your child could try to join in with.
