Welcome! My name is Miss Burns and I teach Kindergarten at Beauclerc
Elementary School in Jacksonville, Florida. This is my ninth year
teaching Kindergarten.
I grew up in Wilmington, Ohio...a small town between Cincinnati and
Columbus. As a child, I always knew that I wanted to be an
elementary school teacher. I earned my bachelors in Early Childhood
Education and a K-12 Reading Endorsement from Wilmington College of Ohio in
2002. I had the unique experience of teaching Kindergarten in the same
elementary I attended as a child, working alongside many of the same
teachers I had in school.
I moved to Jacksonville in 2003 and began teaching Kindergarten at
Beauclerc. I earned my Masters in Teaching K-12 Reading at Jacksonville
University in December 2007. I earned National Board Certification in 2009. I
absolutely love
teaching Kindergarten and I truly enjoy seeing the children grow year after
year.
When I'm not at school, I enjoy going to the beach, bargain shopping;),
reading, making fun things for my classroom, and spending time with my family
and friends. My favorite color is pink, my favorite children's book is Ira
Sleeps Over by Bernard Waber and my favorite movie is The Wizard of Oz.
