GRADES
Due to technical issues I am having with posting my grades on TeacherWeb, I will print-out detailed grades reports for the students periodically or when requested. If a student's average is below a 75%, I will mail the parents a detailed grade report, in addition to an academic probation letter.
Reading Expectations
Students are expected to read Non-Fiction 30min everyday, including weekends. Sixty percent of the FCAT Reading passages are informational. The purpose of me focusing on Non-Fiction is to help my students build their capacities for sustained reading, and since most of their passages will invol ve social or scientific topics, I encourage them to select "real-world" subjects, so that they can acquire new knowledge and improve their vocabulary.
Reading selections can include but is not limited to the following: National Geographic, People, Newsweek, Time, Discovery, Family Circle, Scientific Journals/Magazines, Books on Animals, and my personal favorites--Biographies and Autobiographies.
