Mrs. Frederick has been at Booker Middle School for 22 yrs. She has always
taught 6th grade. Her first seven years, BMS was housed at the high school
facility and Mrs Frederick taught Lang. Arts and S. Studies.
She has been at the current BMS since opening in 1993-1994. She is
teaching only 6th grade S. Studies.
Mrs. Frederick is involved in many facets of BMS. She is a Team Leader, a
Co-Chair person for the S. Studies Dept., a representative of SDMT, and is
serving on the Dress Code Committee.
Mrs. Frederick is part of the Hurricanes team along with her teammates:
Kathy Ansley, Alison Cohen, and Lynne McDonald.
Ms. McDonald: "I am originally from New York and moved to Sarasota
in the summer of 2002. I just love it here. The weather is just beautiful.
I started teaching at Booker Middle School shortly after moving here. BMS
is such a great school and I am so excited to be teaching your children the
subject that I love, SCIENCE! I hope to bring excitement and a love of
learning to my students to last a lifetime. We will be exploring the
following science concepts throughout the year… scientific method, weather,
oceans, space, fossils, ecology, chemistry, physics, and biology. I expect
my students to think for themselves, work well with others, be organized,
and have fun. I am looking forward to a great year with your children here
at Booker Middle."
Ms. Cohen has been teaching at BMS for 11 years. She is certified in Middle
School Math 5-9, Special Education, ESOL, and Elementary Education. She is
the Math Curriculm Coordinator for the last two years.
