How expensive is it to join band?

$53.50 is the rental fee for most Band instruments from BMS.  
Stores rent them for $30 - $50 / month.  You will need to buy 
black clothes including a black shirt from the music department 
for $10.00, plus a book for $9.00.

Can I join band if I have never played an instrument before and can't read music?

Perfect!!! Most of the students in the BMS Band started out the 
same way with either little or no knowledge of music.  I will 
teach you everything from scratch.

Can I join band in the 7th or 8th grade?

Yes, it is possible.  The staff may have to put you on a special 
team because your band class will be with beginners which is 
comprised mostly of 6th graders.  The best time to join is 6th 
grade.

How much time is required after school to be in the band.

All band rehearsals are during school time.  The only time 
outside of school that will be required is the concert 
performances.  The amount of concerts varies from 2 - several 
depending on which group you are in.  Check the calendar to see 
which events you would be required to be in.  The are all listed.
