January 3rd, 2012Dear Parents and Students,
Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a restful and enjoyable winter break. Welcome back, I'm sure we are all ready to get back to school and continue working hard to enhance our learning. We have a very busy next few weeks of school, as we continue to broaden our reading and writing skills and prepare for the FCAT. The FCAT Writing Test is on February 28th. We are taking the Interim Writing Test this week to measure our students' progress thus far. The FCAT Reading/Math Test begins the week of April 16th. We will continue our review of the reading benchmarks and this week we are focusing on Vocabulary. For additional resources, please visit the district website and go to the Language Arts Department.Please make sure that your child is in school on time every day as we will be covering important material. If your child is sick and will need to be out for a few days, please remember to email me and I will provide them with the work they are missing so that they won't fall behind. In addition, please make sure that students are completing Reading Plus sessions at least 30 minutes 3 times a week at home. If there are any computer issues, I am usually here by 7:45 every morning which is another opportunity for students to complete their sessions. Please send me an email, if your child will be coming in the morning. By now students should have at least 85% of their A.R. goals.
