Accelerated Reader

Read at home every night for 30 minutes!!

STUDENTS MUST READ A TOTAL OF 2 POINTS PER WEEK!!!!!

Accelerated Reader also known as AR is a reading program that we use throughout the school.

Here's how it works:

1. Students will take a STAR test to determine their reading level at the beginning of the year. Several STAR tests are taken as the year progresses.

2. The students are then allowed to check out 3 books: 2 should be chapter books and 1 picture book.

3. Students will then take an AR test after reading the book:

Chapter books should be read two times

Picture books should be read three times

**Testing may only be completed on school computers**

4. Once the students have taken AR tests on all three books, they may return to the media center to check out three more books.

Important Facts!

* 80% and above is a passing grade for AR Quizzes

* If you would like to know if one of your books at home is AR, please visit the CME website and click on media center

* Students will be awarded when they have reached 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of their goals.

* ***Our goal is to show students that reading can be fun and enjoyable. Let's strive to be the best readers we can be!***
