What time should my child be at school?

A child should be seated by the wall of our classroom, room 106, 
at 8:10.

At what time is my child considered tardy?

A child is considered late if he/she is not seated in and ready 
to work at 8:20. Allowances are made if the bus arrives to school
late.

What happens if my child is absent from school?

A child who is absent from school must submit a letter from the parent explaining the absence.
After the 5th note a doctor's note must be submitted for the verification of any illness.
The child will receive an EXCUSED absence, with notes. Any absence without
explanation is considered UNEXCUSED. Family holidays are NOT excused!

Why can't my child get to school at 8:30 ?

A child who gets to school at 8:30 has missed critical preparation for the 
day and will not have time to complete the "Do Now " assignment which is on
occasion used for a grade.

How do I schedule a parent teacher conference?

Parent teacher conferences may be scheduled prior to school from 7:30 am any morning.
I prefer morning conferences but accomodation can be made for afternoon ones.
Please do NOT ask to be transferred to the room to speak with me unless it is a matter
of GREAT urgency. Messages left with the office are conveyed.The preferred method of
contact is by email.

How do I see how my child is doing in class?

Student progress amy be monitored by logging onto the Parent Portal site 
located on the dadeschool.net home page. You will need your child's id
number and a pin number, obtained from the school office.
