Mr. Tomich grew up in Boulder, Colorado and attended the University of
Colorado for both undergraduate and graduate school. Despite spending most
of his time in college pedaling a bicycle up and down mountains, he
miraculously managed to earn undergraduate degrees in Journalism and Geology
and a Master's degree in Education. He moved to Florida after graduate
school in 1995. He misses the Broncos and mountain biking but not the cold,
dreary winters. He is married to Gracie Diaz who is an Associate
Superintendent for the Broward School District. They met when she recruited
him as a teacher in Colorado and coaxed him to come down to "teach near the
beach."
They have one son, Hunter, who is a Gemster here at Falcon Cove. Mr. Tomich
annoys his son by constantly trying to teach him random math skills at very
random times such as during soccer games, early in the morning, and
incorporating math into nightly bedtime stories. Hopefully Hunter will never
need therapy to overcome this!
Mr. Tomich loves riding his bicycle, and watching NASCAR. In fact, he may be
the only spandex wearing cyclist ever to watch NASCAR in the history of the
world. His favorite driver is Matt Kenseth in the #17 Best Buy Ford Fusion. When
Mr. Tomich isn't riding, barbecuing, or watching NASCAR, he is usually wasting
his time and money buying accessories for his bicycle or purchasing even more
silly #17 stuff for the classroom ..........much to the dismay of his
beautiful wife!
To Have Fun Learning As Much Mathematics As Possible.......and to make sure
his students never forget the number 17.
