What is the FCAT?

The FCAT is a state mandated assessment given to students in 
third grade through 
12th grade.

When is the FCAT testing?

FCAT testing window is sometime in the middle of March.

What score can my child get to pass the FCAT?

FCAT will give your child a score of 1-5.  The average score is 
a 3, but getting a 2 will 
allow a child to pass the FCAT.

What happens if my child gets a 1 on the reading part of the FCAT?

If your child gets a 1 on the reading part of the FCAT, they are 
automatically retained, 
but they have the chance to go to summer school and pass another 
test to move on to 
fourth grade.

What happens if my child gets a 1 on the math part of the FCAT?

If your child gets a 1 on the math portion of the FCAT but 
receives a 2 or higher on the 
reading portion, they can still move on to 4th grade, although, 
they may need some 
remediation classes in math.  You child cannot be retained for 
failing the math portion 
of the FCAT.
