Is the Spanish class a requirement?

Yes, Spanish is a mandatory class for students in highschool. They need to 
graduate with a foreign language. They need to have two years of Spanish.

Whay don't 6th graders have Spanish in their schedule?

Spanish is basically a requirement for the upper levels. The school offers 
this class to 7th and 8th graders as a highschool credit, with the condition 
that the students have to maintain a B average in this class, if lower than a 
B, they have to take it in 9th grade. For this reason is not included in the 
6th grade curricullum.

Do they have homework in this class?

Yes, almost everyday and it is posted on the web as well as in the classroom. 
Quizzes and tests usually take place on Fridays.
