Why does my child need a Friday Folder?
The Friday Folder is designed to keep you informed of all things
GPS. Friday Folders contain any graded work that teachers send
home from that week along with important notices regarding field
trips, special events, practice and game times, and other updated
information or announcements.
How do I get my child's Friday Folder?
Friday Folders are handed to each student during their 7th Period
classes. Students are to take them home and return them with a
parent's signature to their Homeroom teachers by Monday. Seniors
may pick up their Friday Folders when they sign out on Fridays.
Parents may also request to pick up their child's folder from the
office in the case of illness or absence.
I did not receive my child's Friday Folder. How can I make sure I have the latest information that I need?
Morning Notes are posted on the web each morning, and Friday News
and Notes are posted each Friday. You can access these for the
latest announcements on events, practices, games, testing, and
more. You can also access each teacher's web page for important
information regarding homework assignments, test dates, and class
events.
Why do I need to sign and return my child's Friday Folder?
The Friday Folder is designed to be a two-way communication
between GPS and our parents. By signing and returning the
folder, you verify to us that you have received the enclosed
information. There is also space provided on the signature sheet
for comments or questions. The office will direct your comment
question to the appropriate person, and they will contact you.
What time are practices/games?
Practice/game times are posted on the monthly calendar that is
sent home in the Friday Folder before the new month begins. For
information on any changes that may have taken place, please go
to the Morning Notes section of the Main Office Page. Also, you
may go the the Athletics page of our website which provides up-to-
date information.
If I need to caontact my child, may I call the office and have someone get my child on the phone?
Unless it is a true emergency, please limit using the office as a
way of contacting your child during school. Many parents do not
realize the inconvenience this can cause and the time it takes to
find students and relay messages. Please try to have all ride
and time arrangements planned with your child before school in
order to avoid miscommunication and messages left with the
office. NOTE: The office will NOT interrupt class time to relay
any message.
