Monday, August 25, 2008: Orientation (continued) After instruction: Group1 students will be able to understand varying class objectives, class rules, ethical computer use, become familiar with Teacher Web, take Unit 1 Pre-Test online, Technology In Your Life pg. 1 Group 2 students will be able to understand varying class objectives, class rules, ethical computer use, become familiar with Teacher Web, take Unit 4 Pre-Test online, Word Processing pg. 125 Tuesday, August 26, 2008 Group 1: SWBA to understand how to operate computers safely, understand the term ergonomics (the study of the design of equipment and systems that people use) and how to practice and apply proper ergonomics, how to use computers responsibly, understand what an AUP is (Acceptable Use Policy-agreement to use computer equipment responsibly). Read pp. 9-15. Note: Both groups will go over, sign, and turn in AUP. (Students will take home AUP for parents to review and sign as well). Group 2: SWBA to: understand why copyrights are necessary, how to use technology ethically and legally, how to cite online sources, Unit 4 key terms (write definitions of key terms). Read pp. 126-128, complete Go-online Activity pg. 128 Tech Talk Activity Unit 4 "Ethical Computer Use" (email results to teacher). Wednesday, August 27, 2008 Group 1 SWBA to understand why having good keyboarding skills is helpful when using application software like Microsoft Office, learn how to properly set up their document, learn proper keystroke technique for the home keys, space bar and enter key. Activity: Key Lesson 1 pg. 421-421. Print lesson. Group 2 Assignment: Read pp. 129-132, complete Go-online Activity pg. 132 Tech Talk Activities Unit 4 "Cite Sources" - email results. Thursday, August 28, 2008 Group 1 Lesson 1 (Continued) Continue with keyboarding Lesson 1.Key pp. 422-423 starting with Section D. pg. 422. Read Technique Checkpoint pg. 423. Try to complete the lesson. Print lesson. Group 2 SWBA to practice keyboarding skills using Computer Applications In Keyboarding textbook. Key pp. 90-91. Print the lesson. Friday, August 29, 2008 All classes will report to the Media Center. Groups 1 & 2 SWBA to understand the importance of critical thinking. Complete handout.
Lesson Plans Week of August 18, 2008: No school Monday, August 18th and Tuesday, August 19th due to tropical storm Fay. August 20-22, 2008 (Orientation) After instruction, students will be able to become familiar with classroom setting, receive seat assignments at desks, be aware of supplies needed and due date to have supplies, complete handouts: Student Information Sheet, critical thinking/warm up exercises. Students will become familiar with class room procedures. Students will take keyboarding skill survey, be issued textbooks (class set) and receive seat assignment at computers. Home learning exercise - 1st period (only): Define leadership: What Is Leadership? (minimum, one paragraph). Due Monday, August 25th.
