Mission For The Class

Students in this course will learn vocational skills within the context of 
the Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS)curriculum. Throughout the class 
there will be an emphasis on safety and development of personal 
responsibility.
·	Students will work on various sewing projects throughout the 
        spring semester. Sewing projects develop basic sewing skills, 
        ability to follow directions and to work independently.

·	Students will participate in food labs throughout the fall semester. 
        In the food labs students will learn to use various cooking 
        techniques, using both large and small appliance and take part in 
        hands on activities in food preparation,serving and maintenance of 
        kitchens during food labs. 

·	Students will also study nutrition, meal planning, childcare, 
        personal development, and interpersonal and family living skills. 
        Other topics include consumer and home management, career planning, 
        environmental awareness, wardrobe planning and home decorating 
        skills. 

(Please note that some units of study may take longer than expected to 
complete.  These units maybe related to an area, which the student is 
studying in a core class.  I strongly recommend that all students actively 
participate in all class work and discussions.  This will ensure the 
accomplishment of all objectives outlined below.)
