Story Starts - Assigned November 24, 2009

Directions: Select one of the story starts from the class handout to
complete the following activity. Type the story start in Microsoft Word and
continue typing the story using your creative imagination. Your story should
be a minimum of two double-spaced pages. Include a title for your story in
WordArt, a whole-page border as well as ClipArt throughout your document that
relates to your story

Recognizing Sentences
Part I: Type the word yes before each group of words that is
a sentence and the word no before each group that needs something else to
complete the thought
Example:
Yes Francie Larrieu is a distance runner.
___ 1. A very confident and talented runner.
___ 2. Ms. Larrieu trained long and hard for the
1976 Olympics.
___ 3. She ran ten to fifteen miles a day.
___ 4. Not jogging, but running fast.
___ 5. Running through the streets of Long
Beach, California.
___ 6. On weekends Ms. Larrieu
competed in track meets.
___ 7. Hoped to win the women’s 1500-meter run in
the 1976 Olympics.
___ 8. She didn’t finish in the top three in that
race.
___ 9. But she didn’t quit after losing that big
race.
___ 10. Still the top American woman distance runner
in 1977.
Part II: Add words to the following word groups to make
sentences.
