I have been married for 41 years and have adult twin daughters. I also have
four granddaughters, Kayla 18, Alysson 16, and twins Adriana and Karina 15.
I have been an educator for 31 years. For 11 years, I owned and operated a
day school in Dade County. There I worked with children from 12 months
through 12 years old. I have also taught 1st and 2nd grade for 10 years in
Dade County Public Schools. I am currently in my 10th year at Hollywood Central
Elementary
I have earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, a Master's Degree
in Educational Technology and a Specialist's Degree in Brain-Based Teaching.
I am certified in Early Childhood Education, ESOL (English for Speakers of
Other Languages) and Gifted Education. My greatest academic accomplishment
was becoming a National Board Certified teacher in 2001.
My goal is to create a safe, nurturing and caring environment that motivates
my students to want to learn. By planning developmentally appropriate and
relevant learning experiences, I strive to meet the needs of all my students.
I believe I must educate the whole child, by not only teaching academics,
but by fostering such values as honesty, kindness, respect, cooperation and
independence. These are qualities that will be necessary in order for my
students to become successful citizens of our society.
