Can my child complete extra credit?

No. If a student performs lower than expected on a test, the student will have the opportunity to
make corrections to that test. If necessary, skills will be reviewed before making any necessary
corrections. The two test scores will then be averaged together for an increased score. Students
should therefore focus their energy in completing assigned tasks with great care and effort.

May I volunteer in the classroom or chaperone on a field trip?

Sure! We would love to have you. Please make sure you complete your
online security clearance at http://getinvolvedineducation.com/ as
soon as possible. Some field trips such as the JA Biz Town (October 21)
require many chaperones, while others require only one. I will do my very
best to involve as many parents as possible!

What's with all the Book Reports?

No, I'm not trying to torture the parents! I'm trying to empower your
child to become a responsible tween! In order to do a QUALITY book report, your child will need to
do some planning. Students have between 3 and 4 weeks to read their book and
complete the project. I'm also a BIG FAN of STUDENT WORK!! Parents may help brainstorm
and plan, but the work should be completed by the 5th grader!!

What is the Friday Folder?

The "Friday Folder" contains all graded tests and student completed
work for the week. A cover sheet entitled "Progress Report" is also
inside the Friday Folder. This will list the most recent test scores.
Space is available for both the teacher and the parent to communicate.
Work should be reviewed by the parent/guardian and removed. Please
sign the Progress Report and return it to the folder. Students
should return the folder PROMPTLY on Monday.

Does my child really need to wear a uniform every day?

Of course, we are a uniform school! However, Mrs. Decembert has done a
wonderful job of weaving non-uniform days into the calendar. Check the
agenda for these spirited days!
