School Supplies: 24
count Crayola crayons are acceptable. Disregard the supply list
requirement of 16-count crayons.
If you are stopping by the school in the next week to purchase your supply
bags and composition books, I would like to invite you to also drop off
your school supplies in the classroom. If you are unable to do so, I
would like to request that you follow the following schedule for sending
in school supplies during the first week.
-
Tuesday 8/25: Supply bags, pencils, erasers, glue
sticks, crayons/markers/highlighter, and agenda book
-
Wednesday 8/26: Folders, notebooks, dry erase markers,
place mat, scissor
-
Thursday 8/27: Tissue boxes, sanitizer, wipeups
-
This is not an official school supply, but I
would like each student to have a sock to store the dry erase markers
in. It doubles as a white board eraser for the small boards we use
each day during math time. Finally, a school supply that puts the lost
sock mate to good use! (Bring this on Tuesday or before.)
Additional items needed for the classroom: paper plates (dinner and dessert
sizes), ziploc baggies (all sizes), AA batteries for our "listen to
reading" cd players, markers of all kinds.
Labeling Supplies: If you could, please use a Sharpie marker to put
your child's name on the inside of the supply bag, initials on the glue
sticks, glue stick caps, dry erase markers, highlighters, and full name
inside the agenda book in pen or pencil. If you stop by on Sunday after
Mass or Monday sometime, I can help you label the supplies.
BOOK COVERS: During the first week, I will have the students bring home
one book each night to be covered. You may use the fabric book covers or
you can use the old-fashioned brown paper bag covers. Our social studies
and reading books are "jumbo-sized" and the Everyday Math reference book
is the smaller size if you are buying the fabric covers. Please look
through the books on the nights they are sent home to get an idea of the
content we will be covering this year.
Writing Center Wish List: scented markers, fine-point markers for
writing, fancy pens, & stationary cards, paper, and envelopes.
2nd grade has PE on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
However, the first PE day for 2nd grade will be
Thursday the 27th, our first full day of school. Be sure that your child
has athletic shoes, the Holy Family PE uniform, and girls must have
their hair pulled back. I recommend that you purchase a package of
rubber bands for your daughter's hair and keep it in the PE bag.
Snacks: Please pack your child a nutritious snack each day. We have a
15 minute snack break each and every day at 10:15 a.m. I always have
kids who forget, so I would like to have emergency snacks available. If
you would like to be one of several "snack parents" who send in extra
food items for us, please send me an email and I will start that list.
This can be a service hour opportunity.
Suggested Items for "Class Snacks:" Pretzels, animal
crackers, individual fruit cups, applesauce cups, (and please include a
pack of spoons), Goldfish, Cheese-Itz, and Chex Mix are popular items.
Watch for the Publix "buy one, get one free" sales if you are a class
snack provider!
Great Snack Suggestions for Everyone: Think protein! Cheese sticks and
a handful of nuts (pistachios, almonds, walnuts, etc...), peanut butter
and apple slices (shake slices up with a splash of apple or orange juice
to keep from turning brown, or sprinkle some cinnamon on them), green
peppers or carrot slices with ranch dressing, a couple of ham rolls with
a splash of mustard, a bag of fresh grapes or cherries, a banana, a
yogurt or pudding cup, cheese and crackers. For optimum classroom
performance, please try to AVOID SUGAR for snacks and lunches.
Dismissal: EXTENDED DAY is available during the first week of school,
even the noon dismissal days. Be sure to stop by the school office to
fill out the Extended Day enrollment form prior to the first day of
school, and please send me an email to let me know the days that your
child will attend.
Additionally, I appreciate knowing in advance if your child will be picked up
from the single-child car line, the car-pool line, or if he/she will be
goin to extended day, especially during the first week.
