Each child will receive a unique username and password in August when 2nd grade begins. The children will frequently have "listen to reading" time during our reading and computer classes, but they can also logon at home. They receive a check mark under each icon below the story after they have listened to, read alone, and taken a comprehension quiz. The stories are leveled readers and I assess the students during the first weeks of school to establish their "best fit" reading levels. The students progress through the reading levels over the course of the school year. There is a comprehension quiz for many of the stories to help students recall facts and make inferences about what was read. The read aloud component encourages and assists with the development of fluency. The stories are interesting, with varied fiction and nonfiction topics and my past students have greatly enjoyed the program. They also earn "star points" that are redeemed in the RAZ Rocket where they build and decorate the inside of a rocket ship!
