Challengers' Club

Challengers' Club

What is the Challengers' Club?

The Challengers' Club is a modification of an idea I found on a teacher's website in Oregon. Her idea was to have a Mastery Club to inspire her students to achieve more than just what she expected in the classroom. I hope it challenges and inspires students to learn more while having fun. I thank Mrs. Renz for permission to use her ideas, and Mrs. Carlisle for her Challenger's Club description.

How do I get into the club?

To get into my Challengers' Club, all you need to do is select one assignment and complete it. Bring the completed assignment to me to check. After checking your work, you will receive one star. You can be a one star member of the Club all the way up to an 85 star member. The levels are listed below:

Blue Star 1-17 Stars

Red Star 18-34 Stars

Multi Star 35-51 Stars

Silver Star 52-68 Stars

Gold Star 69-85 Stars

When can I start?

You may begin Challengers' Club at any time during 2nd grade.

How do I complete the different assignments?

Choose an assignment below that interests you! There are websites attached to some of them to help you. You are not required to use the websites to complete the assignment. While your assignments can be completed on any kind of paper you wish, I recommend that you obtain your own special composition book or spiral journal in which to work on this project throughout the year.

Please make sure your name, the date, and the assignment are written on your work or on the journal page. Your work should be neat and easy to read. For the math links, there are certificates that you can print to indicate that you completed that assignment. Print those to bring to me to receive credit. Have lots of fun. To earn DOUBLE stars, you may memorize your answers and recite them to me.

PARENTS: Please guide the students through this, but DO NOT DO IT FOR THEM! I will ask them how they got their information and I will ask them to tell me what they learned from completing the assignments. There are no grades involved, no rewards, just recognition! It should be something the students WANT to do to further their learning and education.

Good Luck and have fun!
A special thanks goes to Mrs. Renz from Redmond, Oregon
