Performing Fine Arts Credit
The
purpose of this course is to enable students to develop beginning, intermediate
and advanced-level perceptual, observational, and compositional skills
necessary to communicate a range of subject matter, symbols, ideas, and
concepts using knowledge of 2-D and 3-D media, processes, and techniques. The content should include, but not be
limited to, the following: use of tools
and materials, art vocabulary, elements of art and principles of design,
critical thinking and analysis, historical and cultural perspectives,
connections between visual arts and other subject areas, personal and social
benefits, collaborative skills and career opportunities.

9 WEEKS GRADE
is based on the following:
A. Project
grades: 60% of the 9 weeks grade is based on required completed projects, tests and
quizzes. Project grades are based on
composition, creativity, craftsmanship, skill, degree of difficulty, and etc. Please
read over the rubric for grading art attachment.
B. Participation: 40%
of the 9 weeks grade is based on daily participation. Three points will be awarded each day of
successful participation.
Participation
means:
1. Being on time and on task with warm up/sketchbook out,
the beginning of class
2. Staying in seat and on task all period
3. Effective clean-up of floor, table, classroom supplies,
etc
Classroom Policies: Student will:
1. Be prompt and
prepared for class
2. Be respectful
3. Be responsible
for self, desk/table, room and materials
4. Follow all
safety rules and use equipment properly
Classroom Discipline: 1. Warning
2. Seat change for the day, possible detention
and call home
3. Call home and detention
4. #3 plus possible permanent seat change
Severe clause: Automatic referral/administrative
detention/suspension

EXPANDED CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS:
1. Students will be in their assigned seat, not talking and
working in sketchbook/warm-up when the tardy bell rings.
2. Talking is not allowed during the announcements,
classroom discussion time, and teacher lectures.
3. All student handbook policies and dress codes will be
enforced.
4. No food, drink, gum, iPods, cell phones or hats in the
room (per school district policy).
5. Students will clean up their own work area, supplies
and tools, including floor plus participate on a rotating basis in general
clean up so that all students are ready to leave at dismissal time.
6.
All
late or incomplete projects can be finished for credit up through the 8th
week of the 9-week term.
7. All class handouts should be kept for future study and
reference.

Positive Reinforcement: Students who work and behave appropriately
will:

Dear Parent/Guardian:
We
are excited that your son/daughter has enrolled in one of our dynamic, elective
art classes. In order for the students
to gain as much from this class as possible, students will need consumable
supplies. These consumable supplies can
be obtained through the school for $20.00.
This donation will help to provide a quality arts program that will
cover supplies for drawing, design work, 2-D and 3-D projects and also for
specialty projects. Additionally, the county supplies $.51 per student. Checks can be made payable to I.M.S and
the money needs to be in on or before Friday, January 20, 2012.

greatly appreciated. We look forward to
seeing the results of our efforts in your child’s work.
